I’ve had this beer before years ago, but just went back to the C.C.B. this weekend. I wanted to try a few beers again and I was really surprised at how good this beer was. The flavor is great and I don’t think I ever had beer this fresh. Very good stuff!

I sampled this beer on tap at the brewpub in New Orleans. The beer had a dark brown color with an amber hue and a moderate, creamy off-white head that had modest retention and cling. The beer had some grainy and grassy hops aroma with a bit of caramel malt too. A somewhat bitter hoppy beer with mild sweetness too. It was a bit watery and thinner with lower carbonation and a dry finish.

Mahogany in color with a moderate off white head that leaves a bit of spotty lacing down the glass. Aroma is mild sweet roast malt. Dry malty flavor with little hops presence. Medium bodied with a dry lingering aftertaste.

On tap at brewpub in New Orleans. Pours a mahogany red color with a thick tan-white head. Aroma is light with notes of malt, fresh fruit, nuts and spice. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of sour wheat, grass, yeast, and hints of caramel and honey. Generally light to medium body with a sour malty finish. Not really that good.

On tap at the brewhouse. Stronger malt in the nose than the Red Stallion with some cherries. Flavor is strong citrus hops and caramel. Pretty good contrast of flavors. Good brew.
