Crescent City Weiss

I sampled this beer on tap at the brewpub in New Orleans, and was probably my favorite of the five I sampled. The beer had a hazy gold-straw color with some sediment and a decent-sized, foamy white head that had good retention and cling. It had an aroma that was a mix of citrus hops, some fruit, and a touch of lemon, yeast, and grain. The flavor was a fairly zesty bitter with some fruity sweetness as well. The beer had slightly above average carbonation, but was a bit watery and thin without a great mouthfeel.

sample at brewpub, NOLA. pours hazy golden, almost white/straw like color. aroma banana, clove, spices light citrus note. taste, grainy, banana, clove, yeasty finish smooth with some hints of bitterness and coriander. Low carbonation, good but mouthfeel was weak almost flat.

On tap at brewery. Hazy yellow pour with good head. This is an okay weiss...has some apples and spices in the flavor.

On tap at brewpub in New Orleans. Pours a cloudy yellow caramel color with a one finger white head. Aroma is strange for the style but has some notes of grass, honey and wheat along with some funkiness. Flavor is somewhat sour with notes of malt, bread, yeast, grass and hints of lemon. Light body with a quick finish. Not a very good example of the style.

On tap at the brewhouse. This was my favorite of the Crescent City beers. A good weiss. Strong smell of wheat and apples. A light mouthfeel of wheat and spices. Nothing entirely new or different, but it is a good beer.

on tap-pours a thin white ring for a head and hazy straw color. Aroma is mild lemon, yeast, wheat. Taste is tart lemon, barnyard, clove/slight metallic.

Draft. Hazy golden pour with a white head. Nose came with a lot of clove but it wasn’t overstated in the taste. This beer had a nice spicy finish to it. I think this beer was somewhat atypical for the style but still a tasty brew.

Cloudy gold body with a small white head. Aroma is sweet and lightly fruity. Flavor is yeasty with some banana sweetness and mild hops. Just okay.
