Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 6, 2005 Draft: Clear and deep burgundy. Nice body. Fairly burly malts caught me by surprise, as the server mixed this beer up with Red Lady in my sampler. Caramel-coated malts had notes of rock candy, Boston baked beans, roasty toffee, and a slight dark chocolate nip. Flowery bitterness followed through. Pretty good beer. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 14, 2005 Draught.
Body is medium brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel, molasses), with a note of toffee, hint of toffee.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Reasonably attractive aroma here, but too fatiguingly sweet.
