| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Several samples at the brewery. Just about black in color with a medium tan head. Aroma of light oak, vanilla, whiskey, chocolate, mild roast. Taste has chocolate, roast, vanilla, mild oak tannins and a touch of whiskey. Being that this was a porter and not a big stout I was thinking that the barrel and whiskey may have overpowered the taste but that wasn’t the case at all. It was very well integrated, well balanced and added some really nice flavor and aroma to an already solid porter. Well done. lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Sampled at Noogfest. Pours a lot like cola. The aroma is chocolatey, like brownies with a very wooden bourbon character. Hm. The palate is quite thin with very low carbonation. The flavor is good initially with a reasonable level of vanilla, nuts, and dark chocolate, but this is really watery. The finish is very quick. I would have liked this much more had the mouthfeel been a notch fuller and the flavor a bit more robust. markwise (1200), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
