yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Oct 27, 2009 Hazy copper color small white head. Aroma has citrus hops and faint pine with a caramel malt balance. Flavor is lightly hopped with caramel malts and a slight lingering pine hop bitterness. r464 (285), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 25, 2009 Much more like an Octoberfest than an ESB. I picked up a bottle while traveling through parts of NJ. I am an ESB lover. I did not hate this one, but I would choose something else off the shelf next time. dmac (1421), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2009 Bottle shared at Moosetoberfest by jcwattsrugger, thanks John. Poured a very light shade of amber that was slightly cloudy and sitting underneath a small white bubbly head. Aroma of vegtable soup, grains and slight spice. Flavor was slight vegtables, white bread and grains, rather weak. Thin bodied with a quick and totally fading flavor. Blah!!! obxdude10 (1546), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2009 This beer pours a dark golden color with a orange hue. The head is beige and a bit on the small side. The nose features notes of citrus, hops, grass, orange peel, bread and hay. The body is slightly creamy and boasts a bit of a spritzy and overly-carbonated feel. The flavors are on the bland side, with some hints of grapefruit, hops, oranges, grass, earth and light bread. The finish is also on the citrusy and lightly hoppy side. This ESB/bitter isn’t anything to be writing home about. It’s mostly a bland and uninteresting offering. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2009 Thanks jcwattsrugger for the share. Pours amber with an off-white head. Nose is citrus, malt, and some bitterness. Taste is like a mix between an amber and an ESB with definitive qualities of both. Interesting beer. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2009 On tap at Capone’s. Poured a medium golden/amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, a little earthy, and toasty. Tastes of the same lighter citrus, toastiness, and lighter earthiness. michael-pollack (2605), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 24, 2009 Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of fruity hops. Poured amber in color with a large, fluffy, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of hops, slight grapefruit, slight citrus, light malts, slight nuts, and slight wood. Light to medium body. Thin, dry, lightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Hoppy, light malt finish is dry. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 17, 2009 Growler shared by jcwattrugger at the 9th Richmond Gathering. Nice English hop nose over caramelized malts. Mostly clear light amber/golden. A big ESB or small IPA with notes of citrus American hops. Finish is clean and bitter. Very nice.
