Commercial Description:
No mere beverage could satisfy the thirst of the courageous and gallant soldiers who stood guard over the colonies of the British Empire. Their thirst could only be quenched by a full-bodied hearty Ale; an Ale balanced with rich flavorful hops. We are proud to offer our interpretation of this English style India Pale Ale for those who loong for the time when once your duty was complete, the taste of a fine Ale was reward enough for a job well done.

Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense GBBF 09. A golden coloured beer. The aroma is slightly sour and not too invitingly pleasant. Seems almost infected. Better in the mouth but still ordinary. A touch of sour pineapple.

Cask@GBBF2009. Golden colour with not too much head. Aroma is hops, fruits, some mild grass and also some slightly yeasty notes as well. Flavour is earth, grass, wood, some fruits, nectar and also quite bready malts.

Gravity cask at GBBF 2009. Clean and welcoming. A warm and generally spicy pale ale. Well behaved and quite acceptable. Juice and sweetness. It’s like a strong APA rather than an IPA - and there is no "English IPA".

Cask (gravity) at GBBF 2009, Day 1 @ 6.0%. Incorrectly listed in the programme as Hypnotic IPA. Quite pale gold colour. Some citrus and tropical fruit notes but definitely in an East Coast/UK style rather than the more assertive aromatic, heavily hopped US IPA style. Seen in that light it worked quite well in cask format without quite summoning up a lot of excitement. A pleasant drinking beer.

Cask@GBBF. Golden color, small white head. Pineapple-pear aroma, some alcohol, like a strong cider. Strong hop juice flavor: peach, pineapple, hops.

bottle poured a yellow in color with a heavy white head. aroma does not have much there, light citrus hops, faint bitterness, and dusty malt. flavor has a little more pale malt, old hops, and dull bitterness. more of a lager than ipa.

The look is a transparent yellow with a tinge of orange. Color and depth of a pale lager. A tall, white head, with specks of lace. The aroma is pale crystalline malts. Lemon and orange hop. Not unpleasant, but very very weak. Smells like a pale with a little extra; needs a lot more hop aroma for balance. The taste is lemon, orange and hints of grapefruit and tangerines. Malts are very pale-like. It’s actually more like a pale ale with some extra stuff added in. A small bite in the aftertates. As it warms up, some toasted malts start to emerge and bite a little. The feel is fizzy and decently bodied. It’s a heavily-malted English-style IPA. The hops are but an accent. Not bad, but not exciting.
