Sweet, malty aroma, with hints of tea. Age may have played a part in it, but the taste was sub-par. Very stale and bitter with an awful aftertaste...rotten tobacco. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA

To start out it looks like an average "red" beer, Orange/red/brown color with a small dissipating head. Then I took a sniff. Holy shit this stuff stinks.. I can’t say exactly what the smell is but it is really bad. But I forced myself to continue and take a drink, and SUPRISE it was pretty good. Oveerripe berries and a little nuttiness, somewhat creamy. If they could get this stuff smelling better it would be a damned good beer. Brew4Dug (136), Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2002 Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. This was a great beer to end the evening with. Crooked River’s beers seem to be hit-or-miss a lot of times but this is definitely one of the better ones. I can see keeping this one stocked for myself and for company. Reddish-orange with a medium light beige head. Malty aroma. Malt character is just enough that it is not syrupy or overly sweet. I really enjoyed this. NDmullet (208), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2002 Iced tea appearance, orange/gold body and a lightly frothy head. A super-roasty aroma hits as soon as the top comes off. Buttery, lightly nutty, and I’m picking up what I think is a seafood odor...maybe oysters? Definitely interesting, and moderately pleasing. Roasty malt up front, with a slight, cidery tanginess. Hops are nearly absent. Relatively creamy texture. The more I drink this beer the more I think of Red Lobster. Weird. A steal around here at $6.99 for a 12...makes for a nice tailgate beer. CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2002 Pretty interesting mix of flavors, a little sweet, a little sour, and a touch bitter. Very malty aroma which is somewhat misleading in that the body is a bit watery. The finish could be a bit crisper. This is still a pretty good beer though.
