ROGUE (640), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy dark amber with a minimal head that disappeared very quickly. The head came up pale tan and left no lacing. The nose is full of hops with some yeasty background sense. The taste is full of fruity hops with some malt backing. Nice bitterness throughout to override the full malty body. Some rind flavorings are also present.
DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Oct 22, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Clear amber with a light tan, lasting head. Nice malt aroma with floral hops evident. Smooth mouthfeel with a nice malt base, well balanced by mild hop flavors and bitterness. A very nice ESB, not overpowered by hops as some seem to be. aussie12 (14), rochester, New York, USA Sep 14, 2005 Best esb ever, I have tried to brew it for a long time and just cant get it right. This means that I am willing to pay for it, that in itself is a compliment/endorsement Dorwart (1810), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jan 22, 2005 Thin head but great carbonation to sit and stare at. Light citrus aroma with plenty of hops and some malt. Same with the flavor. Exceptionally well balanced. Less bitter than expected. Some bready malts in there also. Nice, soft mouthfeel. Medium amber in color. Light bitter finish. Good ESB!! Thanks willblake for sharing. beerguy101 (3862), Newark, California, USA Jan 20, 2005 Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty, floral and spicy. A medium bodied bitter/ESB. Malts are orangish and sweet. Hops are floral and citrusy. Nicely balanced bitter. Very easy drinking. Very smooth taste. Nice beer. This would make a great session beer, although it is a little high in alcohol at 5.9% for a session beer. But you need to live dangerously once in a while. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Finish is slightly sweet. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA Jan 1, 2005 On tap. Very dark orange. Very bitter, got used to it as I continued. Had a great time that night. willblake (2171), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Dec 22, 2004 12.21.04 12oz bottle thanks to bkelley68. Ooh, I’ve been pining for this one for a while. Lightly clouded pretty amber color, just like in the picture, with fluffy tan head. Grassy spiced hop aromas on top of white toast. Flavors are juicy and hoppy and so so quaffable. Some toffee hints, more toast, floral, acidic, very nice. Spicey with peppery qualities and light smokiness throughout. Thanks Brian! presario (2956), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 15, 2004 Clear medium amber. Smoked malt aroma. A little lively on the tongue but not spritzy. Malty singed toffer flavour. Nice hops finish.
