I thought it a nice, malty American bitter with a lovely lush head and great lacing, whose hops were restrained, in the classic (versus West Coast) style. Certainly nice, and certainly better than their Lager, but not a classic. Maybe I should try another sample. hopscotch (5505), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Same facilities, same ingredients, same recipe, slightly different bottle and different label. The aroma is moderately malty and hoppy. Strong nose, alcohol comes through. The color is a perfect, sparkling amber. The flavor is heavy in malt (yum) and pretty well hopped also. Almost perfectly balanced, although just a hair on the bitter side of the fence. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Fizzy. The finish is crisp and dry. Excellent bitter!

Nice pour, copper color with good carbonation. Hops flavor was not overwhelming the maltiness of the brew. I agree that this ESB is top notch, try it even if you are not a fan of ESB’s. snyderceo (7), Cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 6, 2002 This is a very special beer. This one tagged me out of left field after trying the better than average Select Lager and below average Kolsch. Strong hops aroma that really made me excited to drink it. As is the norm with the other Crooked River beers, the head was crazy thick, and the color was a very pretty copper hue. The flavor had more hops than a rabbit farm, yet still managed to be well-balanced. I hope I can find this one in 6ers somewhere.
