Pours reddish amber and rather lively. Aroma of fruit and pine needles. Salty and malty with crystal malt profile and a lingering hoppy, bitter finish. argo0 (6939), Washington DC, USA

On second thought, make mine a double! The aroma gives a good preview of the flavor, lots of citrusy hops, with an adequate quantity of malts to prevent imbalance. all told, a fairly smooth beer too. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2002 Very nice malt/hop mixture. Hints of sweetness are nicely balanced with a floral, medium bitterness hop aroma. Appealing deep copper color with a touch of roasted malt flavor. Never thought anything this good could come out of the Cuyahoga River. hopscotch (5500), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Same facilities, same ingredients, same recipe, slightly different bottle and different label. The aroma is moderately malty and hoppy. Strong nose, alcohol comes through. The color is a perfect, sparkling amber. The flavor is heavy in malt (yum) and pretty well hopped also. Almost perfectly balanced, although just a hair on the bitter side of the fence. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Fizzy. The finish is crisp and dry. Excellent bitter!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2004 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted
bread), moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot, orange, resin). Flavor is
moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately
bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly
astringent, slightly metallic. Pretty good stuff, but still plenty of
room for improvement. Aftertaste is somewhat edgy/rough/metallic, but
the aroma is pleasant as is the balance. The label only says EKG hops,
but it sure doesn't smell like it...some kinda blend, more likely. Good,
but nothing superlative IMHO. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA

Maltier aroma than expected, traditional, good hints of citrus and nuts, aromatic. The is smooth and soft, malts blended with a tone of bitter, clean aftertaste. Quite nice, too bad it may be no more. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2005 Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty, floral and spicy. A medium bodied bitter/ESB. Malts are orangish and sweet. Hops are floral and citrusy. Nicely balanced bitter. Very easy drinking. Very smooth taste. Nice beer. This would make a great session beer, although it is a little high in alcohol at 5.9% for a session beer. But you need to live dangerously once in a while. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Finish is slightly sweet. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA

Peachy and fruity. good though, i easily drank the whole growler that night. Good amount of hops, though it could be fresher. Rather have Ipswich ESB. better than redhook probably.
