This malty brown and ruby red beer seems have a vibrant life of its own that becomes apparent as it warms up from a cooler. The abundant dryness of hops seems underlying in the mix and the beer has a chewy-element to it.
I think this would be quite good with BBQ, grilled chicken, and Jamaican food. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Bottle. Clear dark reddish amber with a quickly fading head. Cereal to caramel malt aroma with some plummy esters and mild hop and earth notes. Off-sweet dark cereal malt flavors with fair hops underneath, leaving a pleasantly bitter finish. Pretty good I thought, though objectively speaking, this seems like another run of the mill micro amber ale. beastiefan2k (1607), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA

Poured into a pint glass, color is very dark pale, complete clarity. Aroma is slightly burnt, slightly sweet. Very ESB-ish, british quality. Similar aspect in the taste, a bit watered down though. A perfectly light medium body for this kind of beer. Decent enough and very quafable. I wonder how this would taste on cask. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Not sure why this is listed as a Blue Point beer, as I believe (or was led to believe by what I read on the board at the brewery) this beer is brewed by Brick House. In any event, I enjoyed a pint of this one at the bar. Pours to a deep amber to red color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a soft to moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is estery, with lots of good fruity aromas of apple and plum, with some nice caramel malt sweetness, and hints of black pepper. The palate is soft and fat on the tongue, with good sweet and stewed malt flavors, paired some fruity esters. This beer finishes with more good sweet and caramel malt up front, then ends with some slight cirtus hop bitterness, and light alcohol heat that lingers. Tasty beer, with some good malty and estery character. A nice beer to relax with at the bar, and a nice beer to enjoy to take home in a growler. I liked this one. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Tap at the Brickhouse. Amber coloured beer with a thick off-white head. Served way too cold, as are most of the beers at Brickhouse. Aroma is very light and fruity, apples, white grapes, pear. Pale malt and a kiss of nuttiness, no toast and no crystal. Flavour is okay as well, loads of fruity esters and pale malt with a touch of alcoholic heat. Fairly thin-bodied and well-attenuated. The esters are pleasant enough but it’s not as good as it could be. Needs more malt character and the hops could be bumped up a bit too. Feels like a fairly boozy amber ale. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2004 A decent amber ale, with subdued hops and mild malts, finished off with strong caramel notes. Dark amber brown body with a lushy creamy head. Looks beautiful. Leaves a hint of bitterness on the back of my tongue, which is quite pleasant. Cocoa can also be found in the flavor. I wouldn’t call this beer out of balance, even though it is a liitle sweet. For an "amber ale", which I tend to think of is pretty bland, this is a nice surprise. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
