chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England Apr 18, 2008 Bottle (bottle conditioned - Cropton version) from BeerRitz, Knaresborough. Attractive tawny/ruby colour with a modest off-white head. Very fruity aroma with some nutty malt too. Continuing fruity malt-loaf character on the palate. Not very hoppy but, as others have remarked, there’s a distinct sour fruit element - maybe cherries - on the palate. Fairly full mouthfeel with a developing herbal bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite tasty although a rather unusual choice for M&S to designate as their Yorkshire Ale as it is hardly a traditional Yorkshire bitter
DruncanVeasey (1533), Burbage, Germany Jul 11, 2008 (As ’Marks &Spencer Yorkshire Bitter’). Tangily hopped ruby bitter with a bready malt balance. Red berryish fruit, musty bramble, celery-like resins on snout (Fuggles), baked bread and dunked biscuit. But above everything, zesty hops oscillating between berry and citrus. Balanced, quenching and savoury. A generous dose of hops on the nose and beyond. Disappeared in about 5mins. Liked this. azlondon (461), Greater London, England Jul 1, 2008 Appearance: Dark brownish red. Good amount of off-white head. Shortlived. Sediments.
Aroma: Malt and flowery. Hops, slightly burnt.
Taste: Malt and spices. Slightly sour and bitter. Burnt.

Hazy amber with a small, bubbly head.
Fresh and lsightly sourish aroma with citrus.
A bit thin body.
Flavour from hay, peat and tropical fruits. hughie (2054), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England May 24, 2008 Cask, gravity, at Cambridge Beer Festival ’08. Dark amber. Strongly malty aroma with yeast. Taste is very sweet and malty, almost too honeyed for my taste. But there’s a strong hoppiness too, even a little citrus. Rather an aggressive bitter, which I have to say I didn’t particularly like rickgordon (3004), Göteborg, Sweden May 22, 2008 Bottled.
Amber colour. Pretty good malty aroma with notes of toffee and citrus. Very low flavour profile, if any at all. Low bitterness.
