Pale golden color, small white head that gave a pathetic shot at hanging around but failed. The aroma was weak, fruity and mild hops with a slight thin feeling aroma for the style.A bit of a lemony citrus taste mild malt at best with a mild hop presence.Over all this is a weak version of the style. It was a poor attempt but worth atleast trying once and little else, don't go out of your way to find this brew but for me this was a decently priced brew from the beergeek.FREE,due to screw up on my order.

Pale colden color with white head and some lacing. Slightly cloudy. Nice aroma with a touch of fruitiness. Taste is well balanced, noticable hops and a bit of fruit in the finish.

5/1/03: bottle.
slightly cloudy body with a golden yellow coloration. stinky hop aroma-very distinctive. sticky lemon-honey tasting with a lingering hop flavor. there is a touch of bitterness in the finish.

Yucky yellow pour, semi-thick head. More of a lager feel to this. Not a good APA.

Another below-average Trader Joe’s beer. I am glad these were available as 77 cent singles. This is easily the uglist APA I have ever seen. It pours a dark yellow with a medium thick off-white head. Some effervescence but the strange coloring really threw me. Aroma is lightly hopped not unlike a regular Lager. Flavor is really bland and uninspired. Chicago deserves a better tribute beer.

You can always count on Trader Joe’s to stock a fine selection of boring beer. "Extra" pale? Should be "incredibly" pale. Looks like a lager, light gold. Nasty scent, smells a bit skunky, like a bad pilsner. First taste is like a cheap lager, bit tart and sour. Finish actually gets some expected pale ale hoppiness, though not much. Really tastes like someone tossed a few hops into a bucket full of Stella Artois. Blech.

It’s a funny combination of hoppy and watery. Not bad for a cheap(ish) local brew.
