Aroma is really amarilloish fruity along with some slight caramel and spices. Flavour is hoppy, grassy and has some slight hints of alcohol. Also some wood and honey show closer to the finish. Really nice. ChristianScheffel (4529), Odense, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Yellow with a small white head. Big peach aroma of the amarillo. Fruity dry and bitter flavour. I think even better things can be done with amarillo in more amber beers, but this is really good. jbrus (4872), Delft, Netherlands

Sweet, fruity, light bitter, light grassy. Medium body, light sticky. Highly drinkable, nice flavors, good balance. hughie (3060), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

A bit of biscuit, but mostly hops in the taste. Been looking forward to this for some time, but it disappointed. Not as good as their Essex Blonde. downender (2592), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2007 Gravity at the Reading BF 5/507. Golden with a slight haze and foaming white head. Great citrus and spice aroma from the Amarillo hops. After that, the flavour was slightly disappointing: the beer felt watery for 5%, although the grapefruit taste and hoppy finish was pleasant enough. I preferred Brewers Gold. Good peachy leafy apricot hops with a zesty citrus twist. Slightly sweet malt with the hop tailing off slightly in the finish but otherwise very drinkable. Gravicask @ Reading Beer Festival. Another absolute cracker from Crouch Vale. Must be those hops. They are clearly apparent in the aroma and to be honest it’s only Crouch Vale who can do a straight forward hoppy aroma this good. Beautiful again is the appearance. Such an amazing deep golden colour and a very good head considering it’s a gravity serving. As with their other big gun I am stuggling to note anything more than hops but it really is a masterclass of what this style should be. Ok there is a very slight sweetness and a wonderful balance at the finish but this is all about those wonderful hops. I could drink this all day and have no doubt whatsoever I would be as thrilled by the last drop as I am by the first sip. Stunning. Fin (3421), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Cask conditioned gravity dispense at Merton Winter Beer Festival 16-02-07. Pours a warm golden colour with the merest hint of haze and a bubbly white head. Stunning aroma from the Amarillo hop and taste wonderfully hoppy and fruity, juicy and fresh, nice citrusy grapefruit tang. Maybe it was the expecatation but this didn’t quite hit the dizzy heights that I was expecting nonetheless it was a very good beer and would that I would actively seek out again.
