Commercial Description:
Tasting Notes: Appearance - A rich rose-gold hue, with good head. Aroma - Massive up front fruit with strong freshly crushed grain. Passionfruit and lychees predominate with a stonefruit undertone - fruit salad on weetbix. Grassiness from three Nelson hop varieties compliment the fruit to give an aroma reminiscent of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc but the grunt in the palate leaves you in no doubt that this is a very serious beer. Body & Mouthfeel - Very smooth with a gorgeous lingering finish. Delicious burps.

Have tried this one a few times over past year. Sampled from tap at Wine Cellar in Auckland last week. Appearance is deepish amber. Fruity aroma (peaches?) invites a taste. Flavour has nice balance of fruit hops and malts. Nice level of bitterness. Very nice!!

Copper-orange appearance. Some hop and some malt in the aroma, but not much of either. Slightly metalic hop character. A plausible APA, very drinkable, but nothing special.

Bottle from Dux de Lux in Queenstown. Pours a clear gold-amber color with a medium eggshell head. Aroma and flavor dominated by hops along with mixed fruits and grain, with a touch of soapiness. Bitter, fruity, with moderate carbonation. An interesting take on an APA.

330ml bottle. Fantastic aroma. Very strong fruity aroma particularly dried fruit (date, raisin) initially then very peachy mango-ish. Average sized creamy off-white diminishing head, slightly hazy light amber hue. Fruity sweetness especially date flavour and caramel, long bitter finish. Low level of carbonation. Perhaps a little too peachy - reminiscent of Speights apricot flavoured summer harvest wheat beer - a drain pour, though this beer is in a totally different league. A nice beer.

Tap FYO rigger from The Thirsty Bloke Chch. Golden orange with heaps of fruity hop aroma. great beer when fresh, one of the best NZ apa’s (did i mention the fresh part?) Have had a few disapointing versions of this but now that I’ve had a fresh well stored version I’m a massive fan. Get this beer on tap and you too will join the band wagon!! only bad part is I’m back in Auckland with the Tap that I got if from back in Christchurch!!!!!

Pours a golden amber colour.Aroma is fresh cut grass and passionfruit. Sweetness from the malt predominates but finishes with a cleanness and a slight fruity bitterness. Mouthfeel, fine bubbles. Good beer but lacking something to make it a very good one

Bottle. Hazy orange, with a towering orange-tinted head leaving generous lace. Massive aromatic hop aroma, lots of mango, passionfruit, perfumey lychee, certainly on par with the best of the American versions I’ve had of this style. Sweet toffee malt with the same aromatic hop profile, but with interesting berry notes as well. A little overcarbonated. Very astringent, bitter finish. Delicious.

Bottle. This rating is for the bottle, but also had from the keg. Pours cloudy with a large beige head. Aroma of passionfruit, lychee and pine, grassy hops. The flavour packs a punch here. Caramel malt, passionfruit, lychee, fruit. Medium bodied with great bitterness. I was really impressed with this beer.
