Smells of earth, tea, some citrus. Tastes earthy and bitter with a mild bitter finish. Decent, but a bit subdued for an IPA. Tmoney99 (4783), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Draft at Crown & Goose. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew. DuffMan (2770), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 30, 2008 GABF 2008. At the festival, this was designated ’’London’s Best’’ on the card at the table. I’m really surprised to see it listed as an IPA here, since I was under the impression it was meant to be a brown ale of sorts. Maybe this rating should be for a new brew by this brewery, but I am not confident enough to enter a new beer without being certain so I will post my impressions here anyway. From my notes: Dirty dark amber brown, thin vanilla head. Low cola and vegetal aroma. Toffee malt, weird marzipan note, thin. Overall an awkward beer (and now having seen its designation as an IPA, even more so!). Suttree (2742), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Slightly cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is big on the bready, toasty notes, with just a whiff of hops. Its definately a maltier version of the style, with a lot of toasty, bready flavors on top of a subtle, herbal hop note. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Pours a medium gold int he body with a medium white head.
Faint hop aroma, supportive sweet malt underneath.
Well done for an English IPA, but I’d like to get more earthy hop flavor than this one had. Overall, nice and dry, not overly hopped. The site here doesn’t differentiate between the British and American style of IPA so this will probably fall to the lower percentiles in comparison. Cleanly brewed, well crafted. decaturstevo (2007), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2008 On tap. Pours a hazy golden pour with a white head. Light citrus aroma that was there through the mix of food aromas. Flavor is pretty solid with a light fruitiness that is followed by a decent bitter finish. Carbonation is solid but it is just a tad lacking in body. My favorite at this place. Nice to have a local made IPA in a resturant. sebletitje (1986), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Draught at Crown & Goose. Pours hazy gold with soapy white head. The aroma is cotton candy, mild toffee, earthy hops, and maybe a little bit of fruit. The flavor is reasonably bitter, with an emphasis on spicy noble hops. There is a little bit of an American-style grapefruit tone in there (maybe some Cascades made it into the mix?). The malts are reminiscent of honey on slightly burnt biscuits. Finish is a little bit dryish. Not bad.
