sample at Crown & Goose, Knoxville, TN pours black, mocha head. aroma and taste, roasted malts, with hints of lactic sweetness, some caramel. abv seems a little warming and hints to some chocolate and coffee. Simple, yet a fine dry stout.

Black. Very creamy, long tan head. Aroma: Dark chocolae. Flavor: Roasted dark chocolate, coffee. Coffee finish. This was better than I expected.

Draft at Crown & Goose. Poured black color with an average nitro creamy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate and coffee malty aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable brew.

Draft at the Crown & Goose during half price pints and half price fish and chips Mondays. Dark black with a creamy two finger tan head. Typical creamy nitro stout head retention and nice film of lacing remains with each sip. Coffee aromas, roasty and slight chocolate. Taste is fresh ground coffee beans, very earthy roasty body and a lingering hop and roasted malt bitterness. Like Suttree says, the best of the bunch at this restaurant.

Pretty clearly the standout of the Crown & Goose line up. Black, with a dense brown head. Aroma is both fruity, with notes of figs and raisin, and roasty like burnt toast. Flavor continues along those lines, with fruity notes at first, then some roasty notes, too. I’m usually leery of Nitro stouts, but this was nicely rich. I ended up having a few of these.

Draught. Pours a dark ruby/black with a tall, everlasting tan head. The nose is oaty, creamy, with hints of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla wafers. The mouthfeel is very creamy which works quite well with the flavors present. The strongest character here is dark chocolate along with more hints of coffee, oats, shredded coconut. I would not consider this a particularly roasty stout, but it is enjoyable indeed.

On tap. A dark almost black pour with tight creamy head. Aroma was a bit overwhelmed by the resturant aromas but it was not bad.Flavor of toasted malt and a hint of bitter coffee. It was creamy but a tad thin. A decent bitter finish. Better as it warms. Very drinkable.

Pours black, with a long lasting thick tan head. Roasty aroma, cocoa powder, bitter chocolate. The flavor is chocolate and roast malt delivered on a smooth dry palate. Enough roast malt bitterness to keep this from being a sweet, hard to drink stout. After a sample, we ordered a pitcher.
