Draft sample at the brewery. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon citrus, banana, clove, yeast, pepper, and wheat. Flavor follows suit, leaning more toward the lemon citrus than most in the style. Also lighter in color and body than a typical German hefe, but very faithful to the style overall. Smooth, with a malty mouthfeel. Sweet, yeasty, and just a touch spicy.

Tasted 9/23/09. 12oz bottle. Activated pour gives a mildly hazy golden hue. Finger width of quickly dissipating white head. Aromas of Perfumy citrus and cloves. Light to medium bodied with a tart body. Astringent. Dry finish. Lingering bitterness. Subtle banana notes with citrus fruit undertones. Mild effervescence but it still has a big bang of bitterness. Touch grassy grainy malts. Decent at best.

Pours hazy gold with a thin fizzy head. Aroma is banana peels, yeast, mild spices, and a slight honey note. Flavor is sweet, fruity, malts lead with a dry midsection, a tad thin, leading to a spicy note (clove, black pepper), finishing with a sweet lift into a mild toasty finish. Impressive.

Bottle. Pours a light gold with little head that has quickly faded to little more than a few clusters of bubbles in the center and a ring around the edges of the glass. Aromas are decent... lots of spicy cloves and bananas, a little wheat and such. Flavor is pretty good too, but has a bit of an acidic/medicinal kick at times that seems a little off. The heavy carbonation and clove-like spice keeps this interesting across the palate and the lemon and wheat are adequate. Still, it seems to need a little more of a malt presence to make it fuller...

Pours very hazy yellow / orange with a fluffy white head. The aroma is very nice with clean full banana esters, smooth wheat notes and light spice ~ very full and rich. Medium / light clean crisp body with a bit of graininess and light carbonation. The flavor starts crisper than the aroma with clean wheat and esters that are not as strong as the aroma. The finish has a phenolic spice kick. Very nice hefe.
