skortila (2433), Bunnik, Netherlands Sep 20, 2008 Cask, at the pub next to the brewery (Sligachan, Scotland). Nutty and caramel malty nose. Clear, brown-red coloured with a perfectly creamy head. . Taste is sweet, caramel, has some hops, nuts also. And, I thought there was some peat in it as well. But after some days on the Scottish isles you smell peat everywhere.. Enjoyable brew. kmacphail (37), Isle of Lewis, Scotland Aug 8, 2008 I sampled a bottle of this at home after getting a pack as a gift. The beer poured nicely into a mug pint glass with a thick head and brown body. That’s about it, no nose to speak of, not even any taste; this was like drinking a pint of coloured water. I sampled another to make sure it wasn’t off, but this was the same. I tried another from a different batch a few weeks later to the same effect. This is a pint of coloured water. M0RHI (1026), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Nov 20, 2007 Cask, Alloa Beer Festival. Nose is medicinal with a balance of malt and hop, some fruitiness. Mouth is sweet maltiness, false orange. Tasted bad. cgarvieuk (2519), Edinburgh, Scotland Sep 17, 2007 Cask Blue Blazer ... Deep Copper ... light malt ... sweet malty and fruity ... nicly balanced ... over sparkled (typical blue blazer) little caramel toffee malt. Maria (4321), Thisted, Denmark Jan 4, 2007 Bottle at home. Dark amber with a moderate head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, fruit, apple. I find the same notes in the flavour, that also has notes of caramel. There is a brief acidity in the middle and a nice bitterness generally. It’s too apple-juice-like and too thin.
