Commercial Description:
Local honey, American wheat.
Cumberland will be celebrating Independence Day this weekend by launching this summer’s wheat beer, Honey Wheat. This American style wheat is brewed with 50% wheat malt and 30 lbs. of local honey added at the end of the boil. Willamette hops contribute a spicy aroma that compliments the aromatics of the honey in this golden colored ale. 12P

On tap at the Cumberland brewpub. Mildly hazy apricot yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon and honey. Thin body taste of mild honey, wheat and grains. Finishes up astringent.

On tap at the GTMW. Amber with a thin white head. Aroma of honey, malt and some mild skunkiness. Taste of honey, wheat, mild skunkiness. I really enjoyed their honey mead, however this one didn’t do the trick.

Draft sample at Cumberland under the Honey Wheat. Poured cloudy yellow color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Light to moderate sweet honey and wheat aroma. Light to medium wheat and honey flavor and light to medium sweet finish of short to moderate duration. Light to medium body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. This is a refreshing soft brew.
