502Flavors (283), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 12, 2008 On tap at draft. Good nut brown with minimal head (because Cumberland bartenders don’t know how to pour a beer... see my other Cumberland ratings). The aroma is pretty subdues but has some nice hop notes with a bit of a malty backbone. Flavor is unique, though not pale ale-ish. It has a weird roast malt flavor with an almost sour finish. Medium bodied on the palate with a lingering finish. Overall: good and unique brew.
Rynoplasty (253), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 23, 2008 Picked up a growler of this from liquor barn. Pours amber with a small cream colored head. Aroma is citrusy/flowery hops, and the taste is nice and rounded with a good malt profile and nice bitter finish. merlin48 (354), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Aug 19, 2008 Draft sample is a hazy amber with an average offwhite head. Aroma is citrusy hops, caramel, and an odd earthiness. Taste has the same strange earthiness which I assume is the Yerba Mate, but it merges seamlessly with the toasted malt and citrusy hops. I really liked this one and look forward to having it again. laguerita (81), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 10, 2008 I really liked this one. surprisingly since i really don’t like yerba mate. it was nice and sweet with a great earthy undertone. i wish i had gotten a growler to go... NobleSquirrel (688), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 8, 2008 From what I’ve been told, Yerba Mate tea tastes like dirt. I didn’t get that from this beer. Got more of a sweet earthiness reminiscent of sweet tea. Some citrus hops come through as well. Nice and very drinkable. Pour is deep red with fluffy off white head.
