jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Mar 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Poured clear brown with a fizzy tan head. Smelled of coffee and grain. Tasted of burnt chocolate, roasted coffee, and cereal grain. Nicely bittered. thin watery body. Malty aftertaste. Pretty good beer. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2008 Now this is a refreshing and tasty dunkel. Aroma was so so. Chocolate malt and burnt bread. Pour was a nice deep dark brown (almost black) with a one finger off white head. Taste was delicious. Roasted/burnt malt in the front with a bitter coffee aftertaste that stays on the back of the throat. Great carbonation that carries the flavor rather than overpowering it. Didn’t like their regular lager so I wasn’t expecting much. Glad I tried it. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 01/12/1996

cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 19, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007Didn’t care much for the regular DAB. This is darker but not really dark. No head. Has a sweeter aroma, it’s a little malty. Seems to be pretty strong in the alky smell. Also some wet burned wood in there too. Taste is a little bitter but I think this is better in flavor than the original DAB. Interesting offense on the back center palate. Yes, is a darker lager flavor, something like an American dark lager. On par with Alambra Negra and Nova Paka Granat. I’ve tasted better dunkels like Becks dark and Weltenburger. Mild bland rear aluminum tooth taste. OK for a dark beer. Probably would not purchase again considering the other offerings out there. Overall, nice to have had a chance to try this.
Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 30, 2006 Bottle. Poured dark brown with a medium brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Better than my expectation. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA Jul 15, 2006 Oh, wow! Excellent value dark German lager! I really enjoyed DAB, however, this brought it to the next level (just like Warsteiner - --> Warsteiner Dunkel). Excellent roasted blend with an appropriate amount of bite that leaves you wanting more. I could enjoy this for days on end. Not the highest quality and most enjoyable, but definately a goto type of brew. If you can get it, try it! gordondusty (9), USA does not count Jun 7, 2006 Great beer out of the collection last night. Enjoyed the initial aroma which had great hop aroma. The body & mouthfeel was rewarding with excitiment for every tastebud. The overall package was sensational considering it had travelled to Australia. It was a little dusty due to age but had amazing qualities Australian brewers could only dream of...worth sending them to Germany to see how it really is done Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 5, 2006 A mildly sweet dunkel. Perhaps I’m tainted from having drunk other (better) dunkels at the source, but this was just OK. Some toffee. Some roastiness. Eh.
