| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 22, 2005 Amber body with a light brown head. Aroma is malty with some simple hops character. Flavor is mostly malt with a trace of hops in the finish. This beer is okay, actually pretty good when consumed straight from the bottle without giving it any thought. Unfortunately, when poured in a glass and examined the poor thing falls apart. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA

Smells of malts, dark malts, chocoalte. Light drinking, slightly roasty and chocolatey, but uninteresting overall. Flattish & watery with a bite at the end. Just not much there. ohknaks (44), USA

Deep malty, chocolate, coffee flavour with hints of caramel or a slight burning. Some fruitiness apparent, I quite enjoyed this one. sfontain (507), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 16, 2004 Color depends greatly on the lighting--in some lights this looks dark ruby, others garnet, and still others orange. Head is a light charcoal/beige, thin and quickly gone. Aroma quite malty with a light touch of caramel. Flavor similar to aroma, with just a touch of dark fruits and a very light bitterness. Don’t serve too cold or it gives the impression of a cheap beer. Unremarkable and probably doesn’t pair great with many foods, but drinkable by itself. Darkover (1317), Columbus, Ohio, USA
