Tasted very mediocre without any special flavors coming through. Something to drink as a session beer or maybe to introduce someone to better beer with. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 16, 2003 gaze long upon the label, it's the best this product has to offer. decants disappointingly pallid, only a bit darker than an amber beer in shadow. head tatters like wet toilet paper. aroma is distinctive mainly for what it lacks: no coffee, mocha or roasty tones-- even a decent lager would serve up rich caramel and snappy green hops; here we have only some graininess, like a stale graham cracker, and the slightest bit of hershey's cocoa powder--to be generous. the graininess is nice in the flavor (although lonely) , it's brisk with a lively carbonation-- and then very dull in it's watery body and it's asthmatic and feeble gasp of hops, it's utter lack of depth and complexity. about as engaging as unsalted rice. well, i exaggerate a little... just a little. jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2003 Deep copper color out of the bottle with a big, foamy head. Dark sweet nose with an almost stale ashtray smokiness to it. Thin body. Burnt caramel sweetness with toffee and white sugar characteristics. Good with a sandwich. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 9, 2003 Pours from the bottle a dark sparkling walnut. The tall creamy off white head is fully lasting with average lacing. The nose is fresh and light with hints of flowers and a trace of caramel on top of mostly toasty cereals - amazing considering it came out of a green bottle. The flavor though balanced and non-offensive is thin. A touch of caramel on an otherwise bready pilsnerish brew. Short finish but again fresh and refreshing. Light dunkelish flavors only become apparent as brew warms. The medium creamy body is soft to lively and finishes crisp. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 8, 2003 Clear brown/red body, not much going on in head or lacing. Lightly roasty and chocolate malt - a little bit of cookie too. Ends with some sourness. From the look of it, I expected a better palate. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Copper hue, small head, some lace. Twangy fruit, toasted malt, saaz hops, light yeast, Dort like. Light bitterness with some malt presence a bit flat and dull. Thin-bodied, watery and fizzy. Standard dort. not dunkel lager. hopscotch (5514), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2003 Beautiful, sparkling clear, mahogany lager. Large, frothy, off-white head. Spider web lacing.
The nose is of Russian black bread and clover honey. Hint of cocoa.
Nice, bold flavor. Roasted nuts, cocoa, vanilla. Well-bittered. Good balance. Earthy, damp straw flavor in there too.
Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation.
Lengthy, bitter, astringent, dry finish.
Underrated... much like the 1988 and 1993 WVU Mountaineers football teams. Both had undefeated regular seasons; neither was listed in the Top 25 preseason poll. Just thought you'd like to know.
