Commercial Description:
Pomona Queen is a California Common Beer, a style born right here in the 1800's. Its amber color is as rich as the flavor, which is full and balanced. Very California, not very common, and purely delicious.

Bottle. Color was a dark gold color with a medium sized head. Yeast, bread and flowers. Flavor is mostly of bread and caramel. A bit of hops, perhaps a bit more than expected. Slightly sweet and fruity. A bit too grainy and the aftertaste wasn’t great, but I probably like this more than most.

Sampled at the Big Pour Mesa, AZ. Just not a very good beer. Hazy yellow pour with a decent head. Aroma was grassy, slightly citrus. Flavor was a little sweet and cloying. Lacked carbonation...seemed a bit flat...which made it boring on the palate. Avoid.

Sampled at Big Pour Mesa. Poured a light amber with a cream colored head. Nose is very light hops and malt. Taste was not much – some malt. Tastes like a NA beer. Medium mouth feel. Meh.

On tap at Corner Butcher Shop in LaVerne, CA. A sessionable lager with Vienna malts, and a tad bit of bitter hops. Perfectly carbonated and much better than from the bottle.

Bomber. Sweet caramel aroma. Dark golden body with white head. Sweet sticky caramel candy with some roast and toast in flavor. The flavor was better than the burnt toasted aftertaste left lingering on the palate. Alright but that aftertaste wasn;t very enlightining.

Bomber from one of the Dale brothers at the Upland brewery. Pours a rusty golden hue with a pretty fat creamy white head. Nose is very malty with no real hop presence. Taste is mostly malt driven with a bit of funkiness. Has good lacing and nice carbonation but was just a so so beer.

7 day old bottle... reddish amber/rich coppery pour with a small light off white head. smells really sweet and grainy... fruity, melon, house yeast and caramel malt. there’s a strange herbaceous bitter flavor that stands out in front of everything else. it’s hard to describe... kinda peaty, earthy and woody but at the same time medicinal and plasticine. other than this ’off’ flavor there’s some graininess, caramel and fruit before a surprisingly dry finish... weird.

Maybe its because this is my first Cali Common or maybe because ive had it too long, but it just had this weird sour wine taste that overpowered everything else
