Commercial Description:
English: The oldest known recipe for mead to be written down in the Nordic countries was in 1520 by the Archbishop Olaus Magnus. The recipe comprised of water, honey, hops and brewers yeast, and concludes, that "on the eight day - or earlier in emergencies - the mead may be drunk, but the longer it is left, the purer, better and healthier it will be." Our products are brewed based on a recipe from about year 1700, and the ingredients are pure and 100 pct. natural - guaranteed free from additives of any kind. Honey is the major and most important item in the recipe.

Thanks for LordErasmus for sharing this treasure. A mead of gigantic proportions, with lots of ginger on the nose (somewhat less so in the body). Tons of sweet elixir flavor. A warming treat at 19% - you can taste the alcohol, for sure.

Bottle at the Fort Wayn Winter Gathering.Transparent with a yellow hue. Nose was sweet, some ginger, honey, and alcohol. Flavor was sweet, honey, ginger, vinuous and dry.Tingly mouthfeel and medium in body.A tasty mead, balanced, worthy of a try and one that I would like to have again sometime.

This corked ceramic bottled mead from a bottle shop poured a head of medium sized clear colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent uncarbonated light yellow-orange colored body and a oily lacing. The aroma was honey and ginger. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of mild spice sweet vinous honey and ginger. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

bottle Ft Wayne tasting courtesy of thedm and hotstuff, who could easily start a site called ratemead.com - This golden liquid has a honey and alcohol aroma. The flavor is heavy on the sweet honey with some herbal notes. It’s definitely warming as one would expect from 19% abv. The mouthfeel is almost syrupy and the finish continues to be sweet. Enjoy it for dessert or late in the evening as you would a port.

Bottle: Courtesy of thedm and hotstuff at the locals tasting. Golden pour, no head. Herbal honey and ginger aroma with some slight "hot" touches to it. Very smooth body even though the ethyl was coming through in droves. Floral, herbal honey flavor with some of the ginger notes coming through. A bit hot right now, but still mighty fine.

This is a metheglin style mead, spiced with ginger and hops. Pours brilliantly clear, medium gold. No head, it is a still beverage. Aroma is big ginger, some honey, and hints of hops. Alcohol is also apparent. Flavor is big ginger upfront, with nice honey character, and a good hop background. Body is medium, and finish is well balanced between ginger and honey.
