Commercial Description:
English: The oldest known recipe for mead to be written down in the Nordic countries was in 1520 by the Archbishop Olaus Magnus. The recipe comprised of water, honey, hops and brewers yeast, and concludes, that "on the eight day - or earlier in emergencies - the mead may be drunk, but the longer it is left, the purer, better and healthier it will be." Our products are brewed based on a recipe from about year 1700, and the ingredients are pure and 100 pct. natural - guaranteed free from additives of any kind. Honey is the major and most important item in the recipe.

Great mead. Not a beer by any stretch, but entertaining flavour, good ginger addition and a smooth taste.

This is a metheglin style mead, spiced with ginger and hops. Pours brilliantly clear, medium gold. No head, it is a still beverage. Aroma is big ginger, some honey, and hints of hops. Alcohol is also apparent. Flavor is big ginger upfront, with nice honey character, and a good hop background. Body is medium, and finish is well balanced between ginger and honey.

Thanks for LordErasmus for sharing this treasure. A mead of gigantic proportions, with lots of ginger on the nose (somewhat less so in the body). Tons of sweet elixir flavor. A warming treat at 19% - you can taste the alcohol, for sure.

yum yum Poured a golden color. Aroma was honey go figure, grapes. Flavor was blended perfectly. honey and white grapes vanilla and the slightest bit of woodyness to it. Expected it to be tick mouthfeel but wasn’t at all vey very nice.

RBESG05: Huge herbal spicy honey aroma. Amber in colour. Dark fruits, clove, sweet honey and cinnamon in the flavour. Nice Methyglin.

Bottle: Courtesy of thedm and hotstuff at the locals tasting. Golden pour, no head. Herbal honey and ginger aroma with some slight "hot" touches to it. Very smooth body even though the ethyl was coming through in droves. Floral, herbal honey flavor with some of the ginger notes coming through. A bit hot right now, but still mighty fine.

Pretty ceramic 750ml bottle from SL. Golden honey colored pour, nice inverted fingers along the edges, no head obviously. The aroma was rich honey, grapes, berries, light ginger. The flavors melded together so wonderfully, light vanilla and oak under all of the aroma qualities. Alcohol was quite warming and surprisingly settled as the bottle warmed a bit (initially served at fridge temps). Hops added along with the ginger? The ginger was hardly there (a good thing for me!) and the hops completely missed. Mouthfeel was oily, yet not thick, syrupey, or honey-like viscous at all. This one worked terrifically late in the evening alongside fresh fruit and pound cake, while watching the Birds open their ’07 preseason. These meads are now winning me over, unfortunately at an impact to the wallet.

Bottle... Clear golden mead with lots of nice, weeping residue and legwork. Spicy, warm nose of ginger, vanilla, white oak, ethanol and honey. Medium-bodied and a touch oily with a whisper of carbonation. Heavily sweet, but also medium bitter - provided by hops and alcohol – just a tad acidic. Finishes boozy, warm and soothing. Nice mead.
