Bottle... Clear, deep golden mead with incredible, centipede-like legwork. The aroma is composed of an array of notes, ranging from herbal and spicy to floral and earthy. Full-bodied and almost chewy - certainly velvety and a little syrupy with a rumor of carbonation. Sweet, but also pleasantly bitter for a true semblance of balance. Peppery, spicy warmth. Finishes hot and sweet – dries out and becomes a little grassy.

From the year 1700? thats a bit late to be getting recipes from the vikings but that is a different story.... Pours a golden reddish color somewhat blood esque in a way. Nose is spicy and floral with lots of honey and sugar. Mouthfeel is nice a silky but I just really not like the taste. Tastes grossly spiced kind of cloying and the heat on the back end is pretty brutal. Does not go down easy and the sort of minty lingering finish is off putting.

Was brought this from my good friend Jakob who was visiting from Denmark. Had a few glasses of it and it put me out cold. Pours a clear amber brown color with no carbonation. Very sweet and boozy alcohol aroma with a bit of peppermint and wood. Flavor is dominated by alcohol presence, but not in a bad way. Lots of alcohol warmth combined with peppermint and sweet honey flavor. Viscous. Overall, good mead.

This mead is truly out of this world. It pours a reddish gold. The aroma is of herbs, raisins, flowers, and some mild spice. The flavor is amazing. Smooth, sweet, but not too sweet. It has enough dryness to remind me of amontillado sherry. Notes of raisins, orange peel, and some cinnamin or mint on a dry honey canvas. I’m new to mead, but I think started in the right spot.

#500. When I started out rating beers I had no idea what a mead was. Apropos I suppose that my 500th rating would be something as random as this. The pour was clear and golden with no head. The aroma was honey (well, it was super sweet so I’ll attribute that to the honey) and floral notes with some light spice. The flavor was nice floral notes up front that quickly transitioned into sweet honey and spice. The mouthfeel was full, rich and syrupy. The finish was lingering sweetness that wasn’t offensive. The ridiculous thing about this mead was that I couldn’t taste any alcohol and at 19% ABV I find that to be really impressive.

Wow. Clear dark gold/amber in color with no head, obviously. Honey, hibiscus and hop notes in the nose. Rich, honeyed vinous taste with a strong floral/herbal thing going on. Sweet, but not as much as expected. Potent and wonderful.

Bottle bought today @ Mckean And Charles it was pretty pricey but I’ve never seen this cheap before. Don’t know a heck of a lot about Meads but if Bart likes it its worth a try. Pours orange with no head. Nose is very sweet with lots of flavor and some hoppyness. Sweet floral with lots sweet honey notes. Its a yummy mead, I like it.

Wow! Thanks, Blair! This was where the evening took a pretty dramatic downhill turn. Sweet, delicious but not too sweet. Not too dry. One of the better meads I’ve tried. This shit got me all kinds of fucked up. There. I said it. Lovely stuff.
