A metheglin mead, brewed with hibiscus and hops. Pours a very surprising dark amber color. No head, still mead. Aroma is extremely floral, from both the hibiscus and the honey. Apart from the floral character, honey is also very big in the aroma. Alcohol is masked in the aroma. Taste is again very floral, but this time the alcohol comes through pretty strong, yet pleasant. Honey and hibiscus are very apparent, hops serve only as a balancing character. After taste is well balanced between malt, alcohol and floral characters. Warming all the way down. Very nice!

Thanks to gnoff for the sample! Clear amber without head. Strong honey aroma with notes of cheap perfume. Medium bodied and smooth. Too sweet.

Bottle post PP SAF: Deep golden hue with ruby glow, oily legs. The aroma has notes of honey, bread, current, hibiscus, herbal hops, juniper, anise, phenolic and vinous. The flavor profile displays a HUGE SWEETNESS, honey forward with a strong spicy undertone laced with herbs and fruit. The mouth feel is very warming as one would guess, very aggressive alcohol against the sticky character. Honestly this is just TOO MUCH of everything, sip it very slowly.

Aaagh! My bottle fell over and developed a hairline fracture, causing it to slowly seep all over my fridge insides. No good! Before this sweet nectar of life drained away, I did get some serious quaffing in, and I can joyfully report that it is truly a mead to be reckoned with. A worthy competitor to Apis (the King of Meads!).

Slightly hazy, burnt orange amber color with rose highlights. Still body with a nice sheen. Looks a little thin for a mead. Despite the light body, sticky legs still coat the glass well. The aroma is unique, showing a myriad of floral and herbal notes, including strong rose, hibiscus, and some mild juniper. Honey also plays a huge role on the nose, and there’s actually a light smokiness in there as well. The flavor has great contrasts, encompassing both sweet honey and floral flavors with hot spices and alcohol. Every bit f the 19% ABV is detectable. Short, hot finish. Medium syrupy body that is light for a mead. Unique and definitely worth a try, but not outstanding.

750 ml bottle 10/11/07. Pours a bourbon color with no head and a nose over powered by honey with slight scent of pecan. No head at all considering style. Drank cold but probably be better if drank on the warmer end. Strong taste of church dessert wine. Alcohol not hidden very well, certainly present in every sip. My first mead but certainly not my last. Good overall beer

70 cl bottle. Brown color. No head. It´s honey and caramell, and maltextract. Too much alcohol.
