Thin dark amber appearance with short fairly thick legs. Formidable aromas of Floral honey and paint thinner aromas. A fairly rough floral scent with a petunia blast. Fairly thick, slippery stuff. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Nice honey start, that when held in the mouth is full and long lasting. If you gulp this down the herbals take over quickly and ruin everything. This is like Apis with touch of Jaegermeister. Finish has lots of alcohol and lots of herbs and spices which are pleasant. But the linger gets woody and burning. I can see having this after a nice au poivre steak. This deserves points for originality. ;)

bottle - Pours deep golden. It has a heavy honey aroma with fairly mild alcohol smell given the abv. The flavor is very sweet, masking most of the alcohol, and is backed by some mild floral and spice notes. Mild hops comes through in the finish. I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to patrick767 for the share on this one. Poured a leprechaun gold color and the first thing I notice is how smooth it looked. The nose on this was very warm and had a wonderful sweet floral tone. Big honey taste in this smooth treat. The floral notes came through and had a nice caramel finish as it warmed my belly. Very nice.

Pours a clear, syrupy orange. Right up front I get a spicy aroma, which I’m told is carraway, but once past that, with a deeper inhalation, I get huge alcohol and fruity honey. The taste was, of course, sweet. Had a unique spicy charater that was there, along with the honey and fruits. Very syrupy on the palate. Not much of the carraway in the flavor, which was good for me, but maybe was a little too spicy in the flavor, which isn’t what I care for in a mead.

750 ml Black Ceramic Bottle (Nice packaging!) - My label is slightly different than that shown as default here. Pours a golden honey (ironically enough) color which looks exactly as if it were honey itself. Interesting surupy, honey "lacing" on the side of the glass, showing the medium to full-bodied thickness and consistency of the liquid. Smell is nearly identical to sherry and highly alcoholic smelling - which turns me off a little bit. Thankfully taste is much more balanced - especially warmer (near room temp.) - sweetness, slightly alcoholic, and then followed by sweet aftertaste. Clearly honey taste, very subtle hints of spice and a mild foral bouquet. Overall: rich and decently balanced, slightly astringent (could’ve hidden the alcohol a little better - but then again - Vikings weren’t pansies!), I could not drink a lot of this in one sitting (unless I was raping and pillaging) - but still a nice occassional alternative to beer.

This is certainly a mead for the mead lovers of the world. The dark honey, fruits, spices and power yeast they used creates a potent , flavorful experience for any connoisseur. Its spicy, fruity and strong. This what the Gods at Valhalla would drink. For me, the only negative is a strange astringent bitter. but that is a minor quibble.

The aroma is fantastic with the sweetest and richest aroma I have had yet in a mead. There is fruit, wood, flowers, honey, alcohol, and brandy. The appearance is dark as if from dark honey. The flavor is sweet and exactly like the aroma without being cloying. I don’t detect the hops but maybe they add what I can only faintly detect as an astringent taste but it’s not really distracting. The palate is only typical for the style making it a little thin but definitely OK. Overall it’s great and very much like a liquor.
