Still and syrupy. Copper color. Aroma of honey and alcohol or should I say alcohol and honey. Flavor is almnost all honey. Pretty sweet with a little spice background and then comes the alcohol and then comes more alcohol but not in a bad way. Good on a cold night while attacking villages. Palate is smooth, oily and syrupy.

An unclear brown mead with a red gleam, no head. Very sharp nose, sweet with lots of honey, spices and fruit. Undertone of raisins. Flavor is sweet, full and warming from the alcohol. Honey, spices and berries. Very soft and smooth mouthfull. An very nice mead, I tasted it with ’Viking Blod’ and ’Gl. Dansk Mjød (Old Danish Mead)’ and this one is definately the winner!

A big thanks to TAR for the sample he gave me of this hard to find Mead. It pours a clear amber color with absolutely no head. The aroma is probably the toughest part of this beer. Highly alcoholic, sherry-like with a touch of brandy, a hint of wood, and acetic astringency. The taste however is a complete 180 because it is so smooth its incredible. Full mouthfeel, with honey, vanilla, apples and sugars in the finish and mid taste. Wide variety and stages of the sweetness so as not to be cloying. Slightly rough after a while given the high alcohol content, but definitely worth the try. Very compelling taste, just hard to get over that aroma.

Bottled. Dark amber colour. Cognac and sherry notes in the aroma. Calvados-like flavour(not sugary though) up front, followed up by a pleasant, sweet honey finish. Big flavour. Wonderful!

Bottled: Mead is probably not going to be a liquid I enjoy much, but you have to try everything once. Orange coloured. No head. Aroma of alcahol, honey, pear. Reminds me a little of Calvados. Very sweet flavour. Is sherryish and has distinct notes of honey. Very warming. Has to agree with DrNate. This would be a very delicious replacement for the ordinary cough drops.

Aroma is vapory. Herbal, buckwheat, window cleaner alcoholic, Tiger Balm. Dark amber clear, no head. Viscous. After a sip, it has legs on the glass like wine. Thick oily body, burning. Honeycomb sweet, with honey dripping down my throat. Burning alcohol, sweet finish and after. Aftertaste like Ricola cough drops. I’d rather have this next time I’m stuffed up.

Bottled. Dark amber, no head. Thick as syrup.Aroma of eucalypthus, honey and calvados. Sweet as hell., honey and sugar are dominating flavours. Very warming with velvetty, honeyish texture.

Looks like light whisky. Aroma: Mike says, "It smells like NEW JERSEY!" I say, Smells like whisky, phenols (rubber cement) and fusel alcohos. Also green apples. Taste: super-smooth, cloying almost, with sweet luscious flower hit--POW! (clover) POW! (alfalfa) POW! (timothy hay) POW! (mild honey). Totally different from the smell. Palate--full, coating, sticky, silky, aftertaste of honey. Bit too much alcohol in aftertaste. If ONLY it didn’t smell like model cement! THANK YOU Dorwart!
