| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2005 Thanks to Styles for trading me this. The beer pours to a hazy coppery red color with a creamy beige head. The aroma has noticeable hops. Grassy and citrus. Also present are smooth lightly malted barley and cherries. Too light. Perhaps the wrong glassware was used (didn’t have a snifter handy). The flavor is very strong. Hoppy malts. (Maris Otter?). I like the smooth malts. The palate has noticeable alcohol yet isn’t offensive. Medium-thick bodied and nice. I’d buy 2 and shelve one for a couple years. JPDIPSO (4932), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2005 Clean copper color with a smaller lid of light tan bubbles. Full aroma, with caramel, toffee, cherries, chocolate liqueur, and a hint of herbal hops. No doubt from the start that this is a nightcap type brew. Hot sweet alcohol hits the front of the tongue and burns a path straight to the pit of the gut. There are plenty of malt and mild fruit flavors in the middle the the burn continues. A flambé that has ignited on my palate. As it warms some hints of soy sauce catch the nose. Some citric qualities in the flavor add a mild bite to the heat already there. Long malt linger, with just a touch of chocolate. A winter warmer that is nearly to warm. Thanks Blake, I owe you for this white elephant "trade". cherr (162), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2005 Excellent brew. Hard to tell from the bottle who brews it. The taste is of nice sweet malt/cherries. The hops are nice and balancing, but not overwhelming. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

Aroma is sweet with malt notes, chocolate, and alcohol. This smells great! Flavor is strong with caramel, chocolate, and molassas. Strong alchohol that is aggressive, but not overpowering. Full syrup like body. This is truely amazing. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

Very sweet with massive caramel and honey. There is also some apples and prunes. Smells absolutely delicious. The taste is rich with caramel and some boozy pears. There is a hint of vanilla and some high quality tea. Very drinkable. I realy like Dark Horse and this beer helps me like them even more. Sregnar35 (730), Rotterdam, New York, USA

Aroma is hops, alcohol, dark cherries, plums, and malty goodness. Flavor is dark cherries, bit of sweet chocolate, and aggressive hops. Great brew.
