| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Bottle courtesy of dukefan. Pretty orange and red appearance. Very heavy scent. Aged wood and old fruit on the nose. Heavy aroma as well. Fat taste of aged berries, wood and oak. Not bad; an impressive barley wine. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2009 12oz bottle: This bottle is probably from around spring 2007. Side note to breweries: quit it with the wax, really. Sure it looks nice, but boy is it a bitch to chip away at when you really are looking forward to a nice beer. Please and thank you. Pours a beautiful brown with a nice and thick off-white head. A great blend of muted hops (grapefruit) and caramelized malts leap from the glass. Slight oxidation adds to the experience. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Lots of initial rind and bitterness hits the tongue, followed by a vast array of flavors - plum, grapes, oranges, peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, fresh dough, cookies and on and on. Lots of ethery alcohol as well, keeping the tongue, and belly, warm. This one aged beautifully. DJMonarch (6871), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Fruity aroma. Bronze mid brown coloured and very strong in alcohol with a crisp bitter and slightly dry full malt finish. juiceisloose (671), Windermere, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2009 12oz wax capped bottle. This pours a deep reddish brown color topped by a small, foamy tan colored head that settles to a thin film. The aroma is very malt forward and sweet smelling with ripened dark fruits, caramel, toffee, raisins, and cherries. There is a nice sherry like quality with some oak and vanilla in there as well. The flavor follows suit with more sweet caramel and toffee forming the malt base to go with notes of chocolate, raisins, figs, and stewed dark fruits. There is just a bit of warming with all the alcohol. Full bodied, and touch syrupy, but not overly so. This is a really nice barleywine and one that is meant to be sipped. after4ever (2776), Brier, Washington, USA

Pours a dark brown with thick, moussy tan gloop on top. Vinous, extracty processed malt nose. Kinda smells like DME. Boozy twang a-hoppin’ and a-boppin’ right from the getty on the nose. Syrupy, sticky body. Vodka-spiked cookie dough mid-palate. Long sticky DME finish. awiseman01 (366), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
