Bottle. Pours copper with light cream head. Initial aroma is a blast of dark fruit, caramel, raisins, some chocolate. Taste is more caramel sweetness, raisins, and now we get noticeable alcohol. Certainly not 15% worth though. Some milk chocolate at the very beginning, and even the cherry in the commercial description. Pretty full on the palate, with light bubbliness. Finish has a bit of alcohol, sugar, and raisins. Good stuff

At the Pgh RB gathering 12/09. Big strong aroma. Orangy yellow in color. Strong and quite rude. Yes it is big alright. Not much to be enjoyed by a lager lover. You can certainly tell this has been aged, yet there is no milding of this stuff, ruffness lives on. Age has not taken the edge off fer sure. No detectable carbonation. Bottle is one year old. Finsh is alky linger. What else can be said but terribly on style, forget my numbers.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Borefts 10am day after hotel tasting.
Excellent amber colour with a really good beige head. Slightly cheesey but all round an excellent barley wine. More sugary than I would normally like but there is no denying it’s very tasty. Excellent spicy notes, plenty of chewy caramel malt and a good warming feel all the way through. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of over ripe fruits, caramel and roasted malt. Taste of raisins, dates, hops and light alcohol. Finish is warming and flavorful. Very nicely done barleywine!

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ post Borefts BF 09 hotel tasting
Unclear medium brown amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, berry - dried fruit, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, orange. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcohlic. [20091031]

12 oz. bottle via trade with Ughsmash - Pours a hazy brown color with a 1/3 finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is esters and light chocolate. Flavor is dark esters, doughy malt, and alcohol. The alcohol is really noticeable in this one. Full body. A real sipper. Thanks Jason.

Huge aroma of brown sugar, nuts, cherries, burnt candy, leather and alcohol. Also some yeast esters that remind me of a hint of bubblegum. Very aromatic. Sparkling amber in color with a thin head that fades. Sweet and rough are two adjectives I think of to describe the taste. Lots of caramel malt and lots of alcohol, but it is pleasant. There is a bit of distracting papery, leathery oxidation... but this is a pretty old bottle. It was given to me by someone from Michigan at the first Milwaukee YeHaw! gathering at MrFacto’s place (2005?). Good times. Body is full, finish is sweet and warming.
