Commercial Description:
100% malted barley gives this classic ale a mild biscuit, toasted malt taste. This is a medium bodied beer with perfect balance of malt flavors. The color is a brilliant amber, while the aroma is slightly fruity and malty.

kind of fruity, yet not fruity enough at the same time. not quite what i was hoping for in an amber ale, but not terrible.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with some small floaties and an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma’s mild, a little fruity along with light hops, sweet malt, yeast and grain -- it’s somewhat bland. Watery flavour of caramel malt, fruit and yeast with a mild bitter finish -- something about the flavour, besides being watery and bland turns me off and I liked it less and less the more I drank it. I didn’t finish it. Dark Horse is capable of so much better.

Bottle. Quite sweet and floral nose with a bit of citrusy hops. Moderately toasty. Pours cloudy amber with a creamy off-white head. Quite hoppy for an amber. Loads of toasted malt. Medium body with good carbonation. A very unique amber. More hops and less caramel and roasted malt.

A good enjoyable example of an amber ale. Nice body, but could use a little more balance in the nose and flavor.

This ale has a sourish malty taste to it with some yeast. Woody earthy aroma with some cinnamon maybe. Interesting Amber Ale.

Poured a deep amber color with a minimal off-white head. The aroma was very light... some malt with a little bit of grass. The flavor was a little fruity, and a slight hint of caramel with a touch of bitter on the back end. A different amber. Not what I’m used to.

Bottle (12oz). Slightly hazy deep amber with a smallish fizzy-foamy off-white head, foamy lacing left behind. Man, this must have tons of that UK-style funky, almost compost-y malt - it’s whoah! funky up-front, then mellows to pungent herbal hops and cereal grain.... it grew on me. The taste is much the same, pungent cereal malt, very earthy, bitter funky finish. Decent body, some sweetness comes out in the malty finish, light astringency and not much carbonation. Decent and different, probably well-made, but I wouldn’t go back to that flavour very often, I’m afraid.

12 oz bottle. Pours a murky tea color with a fizzy off white head that quickly recedes to a thin film.

The aroma is subdued - bready caramel malts, a little grassy hops and some slightly sour fruitiness.

The flavor is caramel malts, maple, a little chocolate, some yeast and a little fruit zing at the end. The mouthfeel is medium with some slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, an enjoyable amber. It’s different and more flavorful than most ambers.
