Hearty, brown ale with definite sweetness, and roast + chocolate malt. as the Fall weather begins here in Philadelphia it just enhanced the flavor of this beer in my mind.

has a dark ruby pour with muddy brown and darker hues, looks hazy (from the sediment) with lots of effervescence bubbles, gave an off-white and tan colored head, bottom of the bottle is covered with sediment which is typical for Dark Horse, left some lacing on the glass,
toasted malt, nut and chocolate aromas with some nut and bread sweetness in the background,
flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, nut and nut sweetness, bitterness is a about medium maybe a little less, there was some malt flavor trailing after the finish,
this was easy to drink and a nice example to.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Very dark mahogany pour with a ruby highlight and a small, short-lived, off-white head. The aroma is really earthy, leathery, smoky caramel, burnt nuts, and popcorn. Lots more of the same in the flavor. There is a really unique buttery popcorn note that stands out but it overpowered by some earthy caramel malt, roast and nuttiness. Unlike any brown I’ve ever had. this is a great winter and fall weather oriented brown ale. The body is a little thin and weak with moderate carbonation. msante79 (855), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA

Served on tap at Dark Horse Brewing Company. Appearance is a creamy and rich brown with a medium light brown head. Aromas are full of nice medium roast malt. Flavors follow with mild toasted malt; different sweet flavors come through, some different hard shelled nuts perhaps. Nice brown ale here.
