| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Courtesy of unclejedi. Pours out a gorgeous combination of peach, orange and caramel brown, topped by a 2 finger thick, sudsy off white head. Very good retention and some nice drip lacing. A thick layer of craggy foam sits atop the beer for quite some time. Nose of grapefruit juice, oranges, caramel/toffee malt, pine cones, grassy fields and hay. First sip is heavily astringent on the tongue, followed by a deliciously acidic and tongue curling bitterness from the hops; grapefruit, oranges, lemon zest, grass, hay and caramel candy are all present. Mostly though this is an unforgiving hop bomb. Medium bodied, very oily and slick on the palate. Dries out your mouth, leaving you parched after every sip and needing more. Finish is super lengthy, acidic hops, citrus, backing malts and fresh cut grass. Outstanding IPA. rb (15), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA

Pretty standard session IPA. Pine/citrus flavor that’s well balanced, could easily drink several. Solid beer. Thanks Santa! badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Copper color with a medium head. Aroma just screams orangey Cascade hops. The taste is fairly balanced between a biscuty malt and bitter, orange hops. The bitterness is definitely not puckering, but stands out enough to know you’re drinking an IPA. Tasty. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 8, 2008 12oz bottle bought in Madison back in August before the GTMW. Aroma is pine, tangerine, tropical fruit along with a nice dose of yeast. I forget how bad this Chimay chalice is for tasting hoppy beers... Orangey, copper color. Lots of residual yeast in the bottle, especially around the neck. Taste is woodsy and piney, with some bready and biscuty flavors and some light roast. There is a hint of citrus as the beer warms. I don’t really get much of the citrus and tropical fruits that were hinted at in the aroma and I think the beers suffers for that, but it is still a decent IPA. Dark Horse said the beer is inspired by West Coast IPA’s and I can only wonder what West Coast are they talking about, maybe Lake Huron’s west coast? garmonbozia (231), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
