Commercial Description:
It’s not as heavy bodied and malty as many IPA’s, in contrast the palate is more crisp and dry. If you consider yourself a "hop-head" you owe it to yourself to grab this beer.

Bottle...very hoppy aroma, dry on the palate. Great IPA, love the double even more!

Pours a very cloudy dark copper color with a one-finger head that took a few minutes to dissipate. Sticky lacing down the glass. Aroma was rather mild, but primarily earthy hops of the pine/floral variety. Taste is fantastic. Perfect blend of pine, floral and citrus hops with excellent matly sweetness. One of my top two IPAs. Very drinkable. If I had bought a six pack, I probably would have drank 3 or 4 at the minimum on a nice warm early spring evening at the grill.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy dark straw color with a thick white head. Moderate grapefruity hop aroma, medium-bodied palate. Nice clean hop bite to start the taste, and a piney finish that lingers for a good while. Drinkable and hoppy, but there’s certainly hoppier out there. A good IPA, but Dark Horse does stouts better IMO.

Big thanks to Shigadeyo for trading this to me. Pours a super murky orange with a small white head and some sticky lacing. A sweet pine, malt and grapefruit mix in the nose. Flavor is a bitter pine, malt, caramel and citrus. Quite bitter in the finish also. A very good IPA. Thanks again Craig.

Bottle at the Knoxville Spring(ish) tasting provided by Shigadeyo. A hazed orange pour with a light off white head and a nice lacing. an excellent aroma of piney grapefuit. A flavor of bitter appley, pineiness. Not a hard bitter but a full all over very nice one. Light carbonation that was almost foamy. A very solid example of the style.

Thanks to Shigadeyo for sharing this bottle with us at the Tennessee Spring(ish) Tasting! Poured amber with a white head. The aroma was a great mix of citrus and pine that presented a floral like aroma. The flavor found citrus hops with a light malt background. Medium body and a dry texture that had a light bitterness throughout.

This was one of the beers that I took to to share at the Tennessee Spring(ish) Tasting in Knoxville, TN on 3/10/2007... Crooked Tree IPA has a sweet citrus and sugary caramel aroma. The color is a hazy golden orange. The pour produces a lasting, rocky, off-white/beige head that leaves some lacing. The flavor has a rich caramel maltiness and a fairly aggressive grapefruit and floral hop bitterness. The palate is medium to full and quite creamy. Crooked Tree is an impressive IPA. 12 oz bottle.

Bottle at the Knoxville Spring(ish) tasting. Pours hazy brown gold with thin beige head. The aroma is bread, citrus hops, a little bit of pine, and some birch bark. The flavory is toasty malt under some zesty, piney hops. General bitterness by the finish. It leaves a slightly bitter, woody aftertaste. Not bad.
