| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Pours cloudy amber with lots of sediment. (was that a whole hop flower I saw floating to the bottom of the glass?) The aroma is heavy on the caramel, toffee, pine and peach. The flavors are the same. Mostly honey, sweet plums, caramel, toffee, pine and peach. The 98 IBU’s are hidden very well under the huge alcohol presence. I think I would have enjoyed this more as a barleywine. ratman197 (3189), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Aromas of carmel, pine, earthiness, citrus and light toffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. There are some rich barleywine falvours along with subtle banana, peach, tea and aniseed. 98 IBUs but doesn’t seem that bitter. A real taste sensation! thirdeye11 (520), Texas, USA

I wish I loved it more, and I wanted to but it was a little too much for me. fidel (921), Livermore, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2009 12 Oz bottle purchased at Tiffany’s in K-zoo many moons ago. Pour is a dark reddish brown with a thin cream head. Aroma if full of hops, caramel, graprfruit and spice... this reminds me of a certain stone offering, but even bigger. The flavor here is so rewarding, it has all the warming earthy flavors that come to the tongue, but in such a viscous and cloying manner. It has a considerable bite, but manages to not seem so bitter, probably due tot he immense amount of flavor that comes out with it. I’m rather impressed with the flavor of this, since it manages to balance all the aspects throughout the palate, the flavor and even the aftertaste, its just well adjusted. I couldn’t decide on what to get, so I said "surprise me"...a nice surprise indeed. It was a nice light amber color with white head. Hops and citrus (orange) dominate the flavor, maybe even a bit of malt in there as well. Quite tasty. ericandersnavy (1055), crossroads, Texas, USA
