Commercial Description:
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Bottle. This bottle has at least 6-8 months of age on it. A cloudy orange/amber pour with a finger of frothy off white head.Aroma is muted grapefruit, orange, sweet caramel malt, a nice hint of bread and pine. Flavor starts sweet then citrus, then some spice I (not sure what maybe peppercorn),honey and spruce. A nice little warming at the slightly dry bitter finish. Full body ,sticky mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very Very Good ! A very complex IIPA.

12 oz bottle, poured into a tulip glass. This pours a dark amber with no head, which I thought was a little odd. Anywho, it’s pretty much split, with piney, and grassy notes. It’s a lot smoother than a lot of double IPA’s that I’ve had. Not bad, but not fantastic. Cheers!

Thanks to polomagnifico for the bottle!
Pours almost transparent ruby-amber, small beige head gone quickly. Nose is rather sweet with lots of caramel, real minor grapefruit, and a little alcohol. Very sweet flavor of caramel, but some bitterness remains as is: almost no fruit can escape the sludge of malt and alcohol. Palate is rather poor: sticky and thick but then dying quickly. If IIPAs are meant to portray the beauty of hop-driven beers, this one comes up way short. More like a thick, sludgy barley wine in fact.

[Bottle] Pours a caramelly amber with a medium soapy beige head. Aroma is lots of sweet caramel malt with some citric and floral hops. Flavor is sickly sweet, almost to the point of cloying, some alcohol, orange, grass, and lots of caramel. They were a little overboard with the malt on this one. I was hoping for an explosion of hops like their regular IPA, but this was just an oversweetened bomb, the bitterness was hardly evident.

Bottle from Parti-Pak Liquors (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a clear amber to brown color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with grapefruit, malted barley, citrus, caramel and floral hops notes. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, honey, molasses, citrus, nuts, flowers and floral hops. Generally medium body with a pleasing light floral hop presence.

pours dark amber with tan head. Aroma is hoppy, and just loaded with sweetness and hugecaramel malts nose. Taste has ample malts and caramel for IIPA, hops remain in the background and balance everything out. Very light for its 13.6%, Intense flavor, highly enjoyable. My kind of IIPA.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours a hazy brown/ gold with nose of caramel, pine sap, citrus, and sweet malt. Flavor is lots of sweet malt, pine sap, lots of nice hops and caramel sweetness blended in. Excellent and enjoyable beer.
