| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Hazy golden amber on the pour, small white head. Smells of butterscotch, caramel, honey, and lots of hops. Taste is immensely sweet syrupy malt, alcohol, oak, and hops in the finish. A little heavy on malt and alcohol, completely overpowers the hops. Still enjoy it though, because I love barley wines too, and this is essentially a hopped barley wine. laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Super sweet barley wine like nose. Some citrus and floral hops, but the malts are the ambassador in the nose of this one. Hops come through in the form of tangerine and orange. Orange gold pour with a thinnish head. THe flavor is also very malty. Lots of caramel. Some not so fresh hops. Notes of flowers, tobacco, and some oranges. The flavor is almost sickly sweet and solvent like to me. Long piney finish lingers after the alcohol and sweetness decides to take off. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Bottle, 13.6%. Very caramelly aroma. Cloudy dark amber colour. Good caramelly and sweet vanilla flavour. Nicely sweet and spicy, oak and cigarbox. Mellow dried fruit flavour, very pleasant. BigBang (213), Indiana, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 4, 2008 Drain pour. This was so syrupy and malty that I could not drink it. Hops were there. Aroma was heavy malt and then hops. There is no balance - reminded me of some form of old fashioned medicine. I love DIPAs [Pliny, Port 15, Dreadnaught, Ruination, etc.] but this one is so extreme that it goes over the edge. sirpsycho (355), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Bottle, aged about a year or so. Pours a hazy amber, small off-white head. Aroma is oily hops and caramel. Flavor serves up a palate of slightly sweet hops, malt and caramel, but not in a cloying manner. Had to look at the bottle when I was half way through the glass, didn’t realize this stuff was 13.6% !!! Alcohol was very well hidden, sneaks up on ya and smacks ya !!! Almost like a DFH 120, but much more enjoyable. Great beer, hope I can get my hands on more. yespr (12409), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange to light brown with a diminished white head. Dense spiced hoppy aroma. Sweet malty at first with an intense hoppy flavour following. Dense bitter and dry wooden hops flavoured. Smooth and nicely balance finish with a light malt base just enough to match the hops flavours.
