| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 6, 2007 12 oz bottle purchased at Bello Vino in Ann Arbor. The pour caused big flakes of sediment to come out causing the beer to be a cloudy fuzzy amber-ish orange with nice tan head. With the glass more than a foot from my nose I can still easily smell the aroma. There is a very nice nose of pine hops and sweet sticky sludgy caramelized malts. After it had warmed to near room temperature I could start to smell the alcohol. The taste has big pine hop flavor that blends into pine and grapefruit hop bitterness creating an enjoyable transition. About midway sweet caramelized malts and hints of pale malts surface to mix with the citrus hops to create a somewhat sweet tangelo juice note. Into the finish the hop bitterness becomes rather pronounced. Very delicious IIPA and even my wife enjoyed the taste. As the beer moved closer to room temperature I could start to taste alcohol notes that bordered on interfering with the experience. The beer seems pretty smooth and not so much the in your face palate crushing experience as the Founder’s Devil Dancer. But close. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

The aroma is of caramel malt, dark fruits, pine and hops, so is the taste, but light alcoholic. Medium to full body with a sweet dry light alcoholic finish. The alcohol is warming and well hidden away behind the malt. More please!!! joergen (8627), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Pours a very hazy amber - almost murky - with floating impurities and a beige head. Fat aroma of hops and caramel. Very full in body with a very smooth mouthfeel. Lots of sweet caramel - almost Barleywineish - almost drowning the 98 IBUs. The finish is rich and full of warming alcohol. 270607 WeeHeavySD (3040), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
