Commercial Description:
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

12 oz. Amber-copper colored pour with a dense creamy head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, hops, grass, pine resin, and toffee. Big sweet, caramel flavor up front with a chewy and thick hoppy finish. Warming alcohol in the belly. Very nice.

12oz bottle served in a tulip. This beer poured a hazy, dark amber with a one-finger thick head of light tan foam that quickly settled into a lasting cap. A small amount of slippery lacing was left behind. The aroma included fresh grapefruit, pine, and perfumey citrus. Also a healthy amount of caramel and toffee. The flavor had a good amount of bitter pine and citrus, but also a very sturdy caramel malt backbone. Almost like a big American barley wine, but still plenty hoppy. The high ABV was almost undetected. The mouthfeel was heavy and definately full-bodied. Minimal carbonation. This was a monster of a beer. Heavily hopped with plenty of malt. Very nice!

12oz bottle via trade at DLD ’09. pours a dark copper with a thin, whispy light beige head. aroma is massive pine and earthy hops with slight floral notes, grapefruit, big toffee malts, and a bit of booze. flavor is an initial blast of booze, big piney hops, citrus, and spice backed by big caramel malts, brown sugar, oak, and more booze with a big, bitter hop finish. mouthfeel is medium bodied, pretty slick, and nicely carbonated. overall, a massive DIPA that could easily pass for a barley wine but is damn tasty.

Brownish orange pour, small whitish head. Huge pine and malt aroma. Hop aroma is mostly pine, but lemon and grapefruit lurk as well. Flavor is true to nose with a slight alcohol burn in the finish, but for 13.6 this drinks well.

malt bomb! flavor is plenty spicy...dark color even for the style. very malty but not sticky...moreso very crunchy with excellent toffee character. some booze finally appears in aroma after repeated attempts but still nothing like the 12% it rides it at.

Hell yeah yet another beauty at DLD! Great rich golden/orange color with a sticky white head. Damn this beer smells good. Tons of citrus, pine, and caramel malts. I almost get some woody notes as well. Flavor is hoppy, sweet, hoppy, sweet and hoppy! citrus, pine trees, caramel malt. Its good. Yep.

12 oz, poured a murky, chunky unfiltered orange amber with a small white head. Scents of orange, pine, wood, sugar... of course quite hoppy. Sweet at first, orange fading into grapefruit and hops, alcohol presence throughout (obviously). This one’s HOT, should let this sit for a few months to age and mellow down. Still this one was quite delicious.
