let bottle warm for 15min after taking it out of fridge. pours burnt orange with a finger of head. smells boozy and tropical. taste is very sweet and tropical i pickup some bubblegum flavors also with a slight bitter finish with a nice malt backbone. mouthfeel is very heavy not an dipa that i could have more then a bomber of. i have had this beer many times in the last month and i prefer it served a tad colder then celler temp.
the bottle says this beer ages well and i have stashed 4 away too find out.

Apr 26, 2009 bottle. Pours a thick brownish orange with a good lacing head. Aroma is of pine trees and caramel. Flavor is strong with Caramel malt with a light mix of hops in the background. This is way better than the original, with the 13.6% being rather well hidden. Rather oily and viscous for an IIPA

Apr 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice amber with thick white head, nice lacing. Aroma was strong with hops. Also detected citrus, honey, and a bit of sweet malts. The flavor was about the same, but alcohol came out. The finish was a hoppy delight. This is truely a great beer. I would drink it every day if I could find it. Thanks to the guys at DLD for hooking me up.

Apr 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours amber with a frothy off-white head. Lively carbonation. Aroma is of hops, citrus, alcohol, and malt. Smells very juicy and delicious. Taste. Taste is initially all alcohol. After the alcohol settles on the tongue, a delicious bitter and sharp hop taste hits you. Notes of citrus, spice, and alcohol. Has a very nice malt backbone that is almost lost amongst the hop characters. This hops in this beer are oily beyond description. Finish is very hop. Goddamned delicious. Way better fresh.

Apr 24, 2009 Deep ruby colored pour with light, off white head. Big aroma of resinous hops, some citrus, lots of caramel, maple syrup, molasses sweetness. Flavor is full of heavy, fresh hop bitterness. Citrus, flowers, and a slight woodiness. Lots of sweet malt undertones balanced by the furious hops. Some brown sugar.The body is huge and thick, some carbonaion. Not very boozey, either. Really delicious, really nice sipper. This beer is bad ass.

Apr 24, 2009 Had this for the first time at Firkin Fest 2009. It was the first beer I had...and the best. Being a fan of the regular Crooked Tree, I was intrigued by the authentic doubling of the recipe.
The result is, hands down, not only the best Imperial IPA I’ve ever had, but can imagine having. The hops have tossed off any thoughts of bitterness and embrace the religions of citrus and non-perfumey flowers. A mannish backbone of malt makes this beer thick and the best sippers around. The fact that it is unfiltered is just icing on the cake.
Dark Horse has become my favorite brewery in the States, thus far. I can find absolutely nothing wrong with this beer. There you have it. Cheers.

Pours a deep brown caramel color with a small off white head. Aroma is hops, fruit, citrus, malt, alcohol, brown sugar. Flavor is oily resinous hops, lots of malt, brown sugar, caramel, citrus. I really like how much malt was used to balance out the hops in this one. I hate to compare to dogfish 120, but this is somewhere between 90 and 120 except with superior hop profile to 90. Good stuff.

Apr 21, 2009 Updated: Jun 1, 2009TAP: opaque gold/brown pour, hops, citrus/fruit, yeast, and alcohol on the nose. Carbonation almost non-existent, good malt backing, pine/citrus hops, and some Belgian spice. Excellent beer.
