Bockyhorsey (2056), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2007 12oz bottle. Wife bought this while on a trip to Wi. and mother in law delivers beer on visit to AZ. Citrus aromas light up the nose. Orange body white head and above normal lacing. Citrus flavors though out with oranges being most prevelant. Dry hop and alcohol somewhat noticable. Syrupy, sugar sweetness in body texture. Smooth enjoyable beer and sweet dry citrus on palate. May god bless the wives and motherinlaws that buy ratebeer guys beer and deliver it too.
sirpsycho (205), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle, aged about a year or so. Pours a hazy amber, small off-white head. Aroma is oily hops and caramel. Flavor serves up a palate of slightly sweet hops, malt and caramel, but not in a cloying manner. Had to look at the bottle when I was half way through the glass, didn’t realize this stuff was 13.6% !!! Alcohol was very well hidden, sneaks up on ya and smacks ya !!! Almost like a DFH 120, but much more enjoyable. Great beer, hope I can get my hands on more. yespr (7785), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 27, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange to light brown with a diminished white head. Dense spiced hoppy aroma. Sweet malty at first with an intense hoppy flavour following. Dense bitter and dry wooden hops flavoured. Smooth and nicely balance finish with a light malt base just enough to match the hops flavours. stankenk (76), Maplewood, Minnesota, USA Nov 19, 2008 Beer Tasting at Heritage Liquor(Maplewood, MN) - pours orange/amber with a decent size white creamy head that fades quickly leaving just a small white film. The nose is amazing, hops all the way, tons of citrus. The first drink, it was really sweet and really bitter. Big hop flavor, pine, citrus (grapefruit and orange) you can taste the caramel malt behind all the hops. The body is full with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. The alcohol is very well hidden, but it is there. Overall, this is a very well done Double IPA. after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 17, 2008 12-oz. Thanks, Riverside! Crystal clear dark gold. Thin gray rim. Light webby lace. Bitter orange pith notes. Smells like candied citrus fruits baked in a heavily glazed pastry. Thick, sticky, syrupy body. Good night Irene, this is a heavy big beer. Slushy and goopy, plenty of caramel and grainy sweetness. The fruits and candies come through it all somehow. Long sticky finish. Finally some hops pop up for a cameo in the back of your throat, long after the swallow.
jjpm74 (3448), Connecticut, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of resiny hops, some caramel, some spicy sweetness. Tastes of caramel, some resiny hints, earthy. Nice citrussy finish.
