Pour is black with a creamy brown head. Aroma has a touch of smoke, but not too much. Bitter chocolate is present in the nose too. Smoke is more prevalent in the flavor. Slightly bitter. Medium bodied and smooth.

12 oz bottle: Aroma has chocolate, malt, burn aromas, a bit of smoke, and maybe some dark fruit. Appearance is deep dark black with a medium sized fluffy tan head that lingers. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, light subtle smoke notes, somewhat creamy, but doughy as well. Palate is lightly sweet, bitter on the lips at first then the aftertaste is light and a bit smoky. Overall, Pretty good. Like eating a piece of chocolate cake with a little bit of smoked flavor in it. Cheers!

Pours pitch black with a thick creamy dark brown head. Aroma is pretty nice, although not all that smoky. Very rich full aroma. Heavily cocoaish and chocolatey. Nice rich roasty character and some lingering rich cocoa. A light smokiness, but it is quite subtle. A hint of milk chocolate and a sweet brownieish/cakey sweetness. Very rich oaty texture. Roasty but not astringent. Fairly tasty brew though. It’s a pretty solid brew.

Bottle: (Thanks JoeMcPhee!) Very dark pour with a deep brown head. Richly roasted aroma- dark cocoa, espresso, dark caramel/toffee-like malt sweetness is also evident. No smoke though. Mildly carbonated with a leaner palate than expected. The flavor has some bitter cocoa, licorice and a mild smooth liqueur-like quality. No smoke is detectable, only in a roasted espresso form, and perhaps a wood note. Nice malt character without too much sweetness, but needs more smoke. Still a solid Stout.

Bottle in trade with ford9719. Thanks dude!
Pours a dark and oily black with a rich colored and short lived tan head. Smell is sweet and dark roasty malts with a subtle yet noticeable smoked presence. Taste is pretty rich, chocolately and roasty, but smooth and with low bitterness. Full flavored roastiness followed by a nice soft smokiness that doesn’t overwhelm the beer. Medium to slightly rich mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lingering dusty dark chocolate flavor along with light smokiness. Pretty nice.

12 oz. bottle thanks to a trade with yem25. Pours a dense black with a thin, sudsy dark brown head that completely vaporized after the first sip and left no lace at all. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate with just a trace of smoke. I honestly don’t think I would have picked up the smoke in the aroma had I not read it on the label. The flavor is mostly roasted malt with a bit of chocolate and again very mild smoke. The smoke becomes more evident in the aftertaste and lingers briefly beyond the swallow. Full bodied. A decent stout, but its restrained flavors are a little disappointing.

Bottle shared with GMCC2181, Thanks. Black pour with nice head. Aroma was nice, mild smoke, roasted malts, and chocolate. Taste is similar with a nice smooth finish. A well balanced smoked brew by Dark Horse.
