Bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Opaque black with small tan head. Aroma is big smoke, roasted chocolate, a little sweet roast, with only a tad bit of hops, dark fruit and alc. Smoke base to the flavor with dark roasted malt, chocolate, a little alc with hops. Medium body with a little syrupiness. A nice stout with a great balance of smoke thrown in.

Bottle, thanks to Nuffield. A rich deep black color with a dark brown head. A full aroma with smoke, wood, chocolate, and rich malts. The smoked flavor is strong with a long finish.

A black appearance with a tan head. The aroma contains some coffee, chocolate, and a decent amount of smoke. The flavor is rather bitter with loads of coffee and chocolate. The smoke is there but not over the top either. Overall this was a nice beer!

Nice roast, good full body. Slight acidity from roasted malts in the finish. The smoke is fairly subtle.

In short: A syrupy extra-roasted stout. More Burnt than Smoked. Decent beer but slightly below average for the style.
How: Bottle at Flossmoor on Pre-Dark-Lord-Day party 2008. Unknown generous soul, thanks a lot whoever you are.
The look: Black body with a small tan head
In long: Not much real smoke in this one. More like charcoal on the nose and ashes in the taste. Body is very soft and so is the carbonation. Some alcohol presence (bad for a 8% stout) and the beer is syrupy like a 12% stout. Basic extra-roasted malts with some chocolate flavour. Overall pretty dry despite the syrupy body. Very limited fruitiness. Dark Horse Foregettable Smoked Stout.

Bottle. Pour is dark, dark brown with a cola like head that sits around 1/4". Aromas are full on chocolate and cocoa with molasses and a touch of peat. As it sits for a little bit it seems to start to smell a little more of charcoal. Flavor is a lovely mix of heavy stout chocolaty-ness and smoky peat notes. All of this sits beneath a nice vanilla creamy texture that makes it really nice and enjoyable.

Bottle. Deep brown (almost black) with a small, chocolate-brown head. Aroma of dry cocoa, fresh ground espresso beans, charred malt and mild smoke. Medium bodied, very smooth. Fantastic flavour - the smoke is mild, but there’s enough to get noticed, and it melds well with the big roasty and chocolatey stout. Very nice.

Black with very chocolately-brown head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, mild-to-moderate smoke, and alcohol. Chocolate malt and lightly smokey flavor, moderately sweet. Mildly carbonated. I came looking for a smoked beer and was sadly disappointed in that regard, as the smoke characteristics take a far back seat to the chocolate malts, but the underlying stout is quite fantastic, and I ended up loving this beer for altogether different reasons than what I expected.
