The taste is fine, but the smoke is really really light for this one. Almost an intro smoke stout, I really wanted more out of it. The smoke is present slightly in the aroma, and almost none in the flavor. This seems to be what they were going for, but, I’ll skip this one next time. Still, a solid offeringREALLY loving the DH Stout line up so far though! Can’t wait for 5! SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2008 Deep brown/black in color with a very thin brown head that fades away almost immediately. The aromas were of smoke, chocolate and creme. In the mouth there were flavors of cream, milk, chocolate and a mineralistic hoppy finish. The palate is smooth and finishes with a dry/hoppy edge. ucusty (1919), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Chocolate, coffee, smoked malts, and hops. Full bodied with light carbonation. TheBeerOrg (1589), Kentucky, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Pours inky black with a mostly receding foamy mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, smoky roast, and light notes of Guatemalan coffee. Taste is chocolate, sweet roast, light smoke and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation. Very similar to the Dark Horse Oatmeal and Tres stouts, which are also quite excellent. BuckeyeBoy (1689), Boise, Idaho, USA

A great aroma of sweet chocolate and great roast malt. Tast of a light smoke. More sweet and bitter coffee than smoke. Pretty good overall. And gets better as it warms up Thanks Secret Santa. pantanap (1369), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2007 bottle......pours like the others in the stout series. almost black with a medium brown head....weak nose of chocolate and roast with very little smoke characteristics....tastes similar to too with just an added sense of smoke which i thought would have been more prevalent.....out of the four, i enjoyed tres the most and this one the least of them all. wmubronco1992 (190), Coldwater, Michigan, USA

Nice roasted coffee flavor. Little carbonation. Only dissapointment is that the mouthfeel is almost too smooth. It needs a legacy, something to remember is by. However overall a very nice beer. The tiny Darkhorse brewery always impresses. TheEpeeist (1489), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA
