Bottle. Poured black. Nose is roasted malt and smoke. Flavor is a bitter roast and medium smokiness. Not too overwhelming. Not too complex. Fairly easy drinking for a smoked beer.

33 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Mild smoked and roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt, subdued smoke, light acidic touch. Smooth chocolate and nice liqourice note. Smooth and acidic roasted finish. Lovely.

Bottle. Pours black with hardly any head. Aroma of sweet, rich, roasted malt, booze, and a touch of smoke. Flavor is sweet initially with some light smoky flavors (but not smoked meats). Weak-ish palate. Ok, but I like the other Dark Horse stouts better. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

Bottle, thanks to tjthresh. Aroma of roasted nuts, chocolate, lightly smokey and peaty. Flavor is increasingly peaty though the level of smoke is far lower than that of most beers classified as such on here. Not that that’s a problem, the smoke here is more of a complex addition to a deeply chocolatey stout, and gives the beer an earthy, more roasty, sort of herbal side to things, all seemingly through the smoke. Sort of a ’tweener in terms of stout vs. smoked, and either way, interesting and tasty.

Bottled. Deep brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoked wood, coffee and some mild alcoholic notes as well. Flavour is quite much the same along with some notes of liquorice and chocolateish notes.

Pours black with a light brown head. The nose is malty and coffee with subtle smoke & dark chocolate notes. Comes across the palate similar; has roasted coffee finish. Very good.
