Pitch black with fairly large deep beige head. Aroma had burned malt, dark bitter chocolate and coffee notes. Flavour had burned malt, coffee and dark bitter chocolate. Finished sweet with warming alcohol.

Pours black with a light brown head. The nose is malty and coffee with subtle smoke & dark chocolate notes. Comes across the palate similar; has roasted coffee finish. Very good.

pours black with a brown head. Wow. This was good. Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, a touch of alcohol, with a nice bitter sweet finish. very smooth with a slightly creamy, sticky mouthfeel. very well balanced. great beer.

12 oz bottle from the Binnys Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). I continue my journey down the Numerical Stout Series path. Pours a thick black pour, largely opaque, a little brown around the edges, with small dark brown head that sticks around and laces a bit. Aromas are chocolate, a bit of creaminess pushing some lighter smoked malts, peat, light tobacco, and roasted malts. Pleasant. Initial is a little light overall in body, taking on light smokey, dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts all in one. The smoke is lighter than expected, light tobacco and peat, but never really approaching the meatiness I was hoping for. A very smooth beer, the roasted malt and coffee display bitterness and roast, light sweetness intervenes, but largely roasted and bitter. A bit more smoke comes through further into the body, but not necessarily in the finish. Instead, I notice it on initial tounge touch. I wanted more smoke in this beer. This is a good stout, with complex flavors, but I simply got greedy and wanted some more smoke. Extremely well balanced. Not bad. Not great. Good.

Pours incredibly dark with one of the dark deep brown heads I’ve ever seen. The aroma has toasted malt, smoke, peat and tobacco - very hefty aroma. Medium / thick body that is smooth, rich and silky with light carbonation. The flavor starts like the aroma, but smooth and added richness. The finish has some spice added in. This is very good for the style.

Bottle. Pours black with a thick tan head. A little bit of lacing and really great retention. Roast, smokey burnt coffee, coffee, molasses, dark fruits. Big roasty chocolate, sweet dark fruit, nice dark caramel malt backbone, hints of smoke. Lush, nice smooth carbonation. Excellent big stout, complex, very light on the smoke--in the smokiness range of Stone Smoked Porter.

What a freakin STOUT! Pours a black motor oil viscous pour. Not much head, not much needed. Notes of chocolate, tobacco, coffee and smoke. A little sour on the finish, but otherwiese EXCELLENT.
